This was my first time in Mallorca. I travelled with my bike and spent my time cycling, mainly through the Serra de Tramuntana. The roads are perfect for cycling, and Asis is in a great location to access both the east and west of the mountains. It is also well connected by train: Santa Maria train station is only 10 minutes by bike and you can catch the train to Palma or Inca/Sa Pobla/Manacor and cycle from there. The location of Asis is also very peaceful and away from the hustle and bustle of some of the bigger cycling-holiday hotels in Pollença, which is important to me. The island seemed very busy with cyclists and it was lovely to come home each day to such a tranquil place.
Dominique and Toni were wonderful hosts, and had thought of everything. I chose to eat dinner at Asis after each day’s cycling, and Toni’s traditional Mallorcan cuisine was a real treat. Fresh lemonade from the garden and salt-baked fish were among the highlights.
The accommodation itself feels luxurious as although the old convent bedrooms are small, they are very comfortable and there is a lot of communal space to enjoy. The garden is beautiful and from it you can watch the sunset over the mountains. Bedrooms and bathrooms are very clean.
Toni & Dominique were a wealth of knowledge also about the island, and helped me plan many of my excursions. I felt very relaxed and at home there, and it was easy to come and go.
The stay was excellent value for money, and I slept very well as it was so quiet and so dark at night, despite being only a short drive from Palma.
I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Mallorca, and I would love to go back sometime.
